Francesc Tarrés
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Francesc Tarres received a degree in telecommunication
engineering from the
Telecommunication School of the
Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, in 1985, and the Ph.D degree in 1988.
He is a Professor at the Technical University of Catalonia where he teaches
Signal & Image Processing and Video Systems courses. He
collaborates with Catalonia Television (TV3) teaching some graduate courses in
Digital Television. He has been responsible of many national and international projects in
audio and video coding applications, mobile antenna communications activities. His main interests are
audio and video coding,
image and video analysis and mobile communications. He has also collaborated as
researcher or project manager in audiovisual and telecommunications projects for
companies such as SONY España S.A, Indra, Mitsubishi Electrics and Promax. He is also editor of
several books in the Image Processing and Audiovisual Systems areas.
